From time to time, there are complaints that questions are incorrectly posted to the Classical Music section of the music board. I see, for example, that just before I started to type this question, that one about Elton John appears on the first page. This lead me to consider that at least ‘classical music’ should be moved out of the ‘Entertainment and Music’ section and be placed in ‘Arts and Humanities’ along with books, theatre, dance, poetry etc. What do others think and, if you agree, how do we persuade Y!A to move it?

I need some more variety in music. So far I’ve mainly hung out in the new age, soft, jazz, but not much classic. I realize this is because I don’t have much classical sheet music that’s really enjoyable.
Because I’m no expert in this area, I’m hoping that somebody can offer some suggested songs (not impossible to play, but definitely difficult) to check out. Links would be astounding.
Thanks!

I have HDCD, Sacd and JVC XR discs. Overall, I prefer SACD. There is a new format out called HQCD but I have not heard one yet. Let me know if you have heard any recordings on this format.
Alexander- Can you give me some titles on the HQCD that have great sound?

I’m an amateur musician becoming interested in classical music, and I want to know what classical composers are doing in their work–for instance, what makes a Bach fugue distinctive. I found a podcast called The Music Professor’s podcast that is exactly what I want, but the guy only made three, so I want more. Need podcasts so I can listen on the bus and stuff. Any suggestions?
