Jack asked:

I really need to go back and re-learn my music theory, and I’m wondering if you guys can recommend some composition-geared theory books.

First for classical, then maybe jazz if you know of any.

Meru is L337 asked:

Please do not answer this question if the only classical music you know is “Symphony no. 5″ and “O Fortuna”.
Anyway:
I really like Beethoven and Medelsshon. I love reading about all of the Germanic composers, though. Many are very interesting.
My favorites are “The Planets Op. 32″ (Jupiter is my favorite) by Gustav Holst and “Symphony no. 25″ by Mozart.

Mapple asked:

Can one learn vocal Indian classical music at 48? I realised I can sing professionally by accident at an age of 35. I have music in my family but I never tried on stage. Once tried and was a overnight star in Dubai as I am a Mukesh jee’s sing alike. Then I did many live shows in Kuwait and all sucesssful. But at that time with family kids and all I cud not quit my profession and take this up. Besides Mukesh’s range was limited and old and new trends settings in wouldnt have given me chance. Now I am well settled but 47. How can I catch up on my musical talent? Can i Learn classical? How can I lproduce some new music ? Any organisation or training institute or group where amatures musicians do experiment and try new stuff…..?Having done stage once ……..it is suffocating to not persue and presently all talent shows and exposure media is for younger geeneration. I am in Dubai.

DenniB asked:

I need to know the basics. Who, what, when, where, how, why (did you like/dislike).
What impressed you most about the performance? Why?
Why did you like/dislike the music? Did one song stand out from all the others?
Describe the performers. Were they connecting with the audience or just ignoring them? Were they expressive or just going through the motions?
Can you connect the musical terms and concepts you learned from the student guide with the live performance of the musicians? Explain using examples

I have a project in school where I have to create my own movie trailer (to The Lord of the Flies) and I want the musical score to be very ominous and fast-paced and dramatic. Any ideas?
