I know hardly anything about classical kinds of music, however i am looking for any dark/moody music similar to the music written by Wojciech Kilar for “Bram Stokers Dracula” or the intro of “The Ninth Gate”.

If the person who wrote the music died hundreds of years ago, is it legal to download it without paying?

I don’t know if it’s called Baroque, or whatever, but today I was listening to a Mozart station on Last.fm and a Beethoven song followed by a Brahms song came on that gave me chills. It wasn’t the stupid upbeat classical, but really slow and haunting. Does anyone know other songs or any way to find more of this kind of music?

I was mainly hoping for the differences between symphony, concerto’s, minuet etc. the main types of classical music will do just fine as i know it will take a while to explain.

I really need a slow classical/piano piece of music for a drama GCSE scene for a flashback of an explosion, much like Ludovico Einaudi : ‘Ritornare’ but obviously not that!
thanks! I need it more modern classical to the older classical music if that makes sense!

George asked:
Have you any examples of classical/medieval music that specifically use the medieval Doric (or Dorian) musical mode. Wikipedia quote only Beethoven in his Missa Solemnis during the credo, does anyone know any others, the more the better! There are plenty of modern examples, but I am specifically searching for classical and even better medieval examples. Thank you for your help
